Yana Klochkova is a swimmer who has competed for Ukraine. She competed at the 2000 and 2004 Summer Olympic Games.
Klochkova was regarded as the world's top all-around swimmer on the women's side (200 and 400). At her first Olympics in 2000, she pulled away from the field to touch the wall first with a new world record time in the 400 metres individual medley. Her winning time of 4:33.59 erased Petra Schneider's mark from Moscow 1980 by more than three seconds. She continued her podium streak by blasting an Olympic record time (2:10.68) for the gold in the 200. With this feat, Klochkova became the fourth female swimmer to strike the double since Claudia Kolb topped the podium in 1968, Tracy Caulkins in 1984, and Michelle Smith in 1996. She closed out her Olympic debut by adding a silver to her medal haul in the 800 metres freestyle with a Ukrainian record time (8:22.66).
Four years later in Athens, Klochkova returned to her second Games as the defending champion in the women's medley double. She managed to retain both of her titles in the 200 and 400 metres individual medley outside her record time. Hence, she became the first female swimmer to defend Olympic titles in the medley double (200 and 400) at the Games.
Klochkova retired after Athens 2004, but she returned to carry the Ukrainian flag at the Beijing 2008 opening ceremony.
