Weightlifting at the 2000 Summer Olympics was held from 16 to 26 September 2000 at the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre.
For the first time in Olympic history, women were finally admitted to compete in weightlifting, while the men saw their program decrease from 10 events to 8 to allocate more spots for the female weightlifters.
