Weightlifting at the 1976 Summer Olympics was held from 18 to 27 July 1976 at Saint-Michel Arena.
The military press was removed from the competition format after Munich 1972 because of the disagreement and deleterious effects over proper body weight form, leaving with only two lifts currently used: snatch and clean and jerk.
