Vladimir Selkov is a swimmer who has competed for the Unified Team and Russia. He competed at the 1992 and 1996 Summer Olympic Games.
Selkov was widely regarded as one of the world's top backstrokers in the early 1990s. At his Olympic debut in 1992, he finished second behind the home favorite Martín López-Zubero by four tenths of a second (0.4) in the 200 metres backstroke. He also swam through the backstroke leg to deliver the Unified Team a silver in the 4x100 metres medley relay.
When he swam for Russia in Atlanta four years later, Selkov and his teammates Stanislav Lopukhov, Denis Pankratov, and Alexander Popov were expected to upset their American rivals for the gold in the same relay race from Barcelona. As a result, they finished again with a runner-up feat by over three seconds. On the individual side, he posted a ninth-seeded time in the heats of the backstroke double (100 and 200), he scratched the B-final of each for undisclosed reasons.
