United Arab Emirates first participated at the Olympic Games in 1984 and sent its athletes to compete in every Summer Olympic edition since then. Emirati athletes have never appeared in any edition of the Winter Olympic Games.
Emirati athletes have won a total of two medals at the Summer Olympic Games, a gold from shooter Ahmed Al-Maktoum in men's double trop and a bronze from Moldovan-born judoka Sergiu Toma in the men's half-middleweight category (81 kg).
The United Arab Emirates National Olympic Committee was established in 1979 and duly recognized by the International Olympic Committee a year later.
