The Unified Team competed at both the the 1992 summer and Winter Olympics. The team was formed for the games after the break of the Soviet Union and consisted of twelve of the fifteen former Soviet republics. The team made use of the Olympic flag instead of a national flag, and athletes representing the United Team represented their respective nations in 1994 and 1996.
