Timo Aaltonen has competed for Finland

Timo Aaltonen is a track and field athlete who has competed for Finland. He competed at the 2000 Summer Olympic Games.

He was one of two Finnish athletes to compete in the shot put in Sydney 2000, together with Arsi Harju. In the qualification, he came to a distance of 20.04 metres, just shy of direct qualification, which was set at 20.10 metres. Advancing as the fifth-best athlete of the qualification, hopes were high for a medal, but he was not able to equal his performance again. As one of the oldest finalists, behind Oliver-Sven Buder, his first throw failed, after which he threw 18.64 metres. After his third throw also failed, he was not able to compete for the medals. His compatriot Harju ultimately won the gold medal.
