Therese Alshammar is a swimmer who has competed for Sweden. She competed at the 1996, 2000, 2004, 2008, 2012, and 2016 Summer Olympic Games. She became the first female Swedish swimmer to ever compete at six straight editions.

Alshammar started her Olympic career in 1996, but she dropped to last of the top eight swimmers in the B-finals of the 100 metres backstroke. She and her Swedish teammates also missed the final of the 4x100 metres medley relay with a tenth place time from the heats.

Sydney 2000 hit the peak of Alshammar's swimming career. There, she received two silver medals in the sprint freestyle double (50 and 100), losing the title each to Inge de Bruijn. She also helped the Swedish women's team of Louise Jöhncke, Johanna Sjöberg, and Anna-Karin Kammerling snare a bronze in the 4x100 metres freestyle relay with a national record time of 3:40.30, edging out the German women by a hundredth of a second (0.01).

Alshammar has continued to be a member of the Swedish swimming team at Athens 2004, Beijing 2008, London 2012, and Rio de Janeiro 2016, but she failed to attain a medal in any of her individual and relay races. She was also selected to carry the Swedish flag during the Rio de Janeiro 2016 opening ceremony.
