Teddy Riner is a judoka who has competed for France.
He competed at the 2008, 2012, 2016, 2020, and 2024 Summer Olympic Games. He is widely regarded as the most decorated judoka in Olympic history. Among his five Olympic trips, he won a total of seven medals, including three individual titles in the men's 100+ kg category and two more as a member of the French mixed judo team. He also joined with Robert van de Walle as the only male judokas to participate in five straight editions of the Summer Olympic Games. He also tied the record with Ryoko Tani for the most individual medals won by a judoka (5) at the Games.
After winning his first ever gold at London 2012, Riner was selected to carry the French flag during the opening ceremony four years later in Rio de Janeiro. When Paris hosted the Games in 2024, he lit the Olympic flame at the end of the opening ceremony in the Tuileries Gardens with Marie-Jose Perec.
