Tamara Abalde is a basketball player who has competed for Spain. She competed at the 2008 and 2020 Summer Olympic Games. She was the only player of the Spanish women's basketball team to play in the United States, playing for Lamar University in Texas, and only one of three team members to play in foreign competitions, with Nuria Martinez and Amaya Valdemoro playing in Russia. As one of the youngest members of the team, the power forward played in all six matches and made five points in the group stage match against New Zealand, two points against the Czech Republic and Mali, and two points in the quarterfinal against Russia. In total, she played around 50 minutes and scored 11 points.
Thirteen years later, she returned to the Olympic team to compete in the delayed Olympic Games of 2020, but her playing time was kept at a low. Despite being the only power forward of the selection, she was the only member of the team not to have appeared on the field in four matches, with Spain winning all matches in the group stage, but losing the quarterfinal against France.
Her younger brother Alberto Abalde made his Olympic debut in 2021 in the men's basketball competition.
