The women's 4x200 metre freestyle relay of Swimming 2020 during the 2020 Summer Olympics was held on 28-29 July 2021 in the Tokyo Aquatics Centre. With 16 teams competing, the event was won by the team from China, with United States taking the silver medal and Australia taking bronze.
Format[]
This competition exists out of two rounds, each with eight teams. The eight teams with the fastest times in either semifinal advance to the final. The fastest team in the final is the winner of the event.
Preview[]
Sixteen teams qualified for the event which seemed to be a fierce battle between the two best nations in women's swimming the defending team the United States and the world champions from Australia. Canada took bronze in both prominent finals and would be the other big name for the medals. Other medal contenders also included China, ROC, Hungary, Germany, and host nation Japan after reaching the final of the most recent world championships.
