The women's 4x100 metre freestyle relay of Swimming 2020 during the 2020 Summer Olympics was held on 24-25 July 2021 in the Tokyo Aquatics Centre. With 15 teams competing, the event was won by the team from Australia, with Canada taking the silver medal and United States taking bronze.

Format[]

This competition exists out of two rounds, each with eight teams. The eight teams with the fastest times in either semifinal advance to the final. The fastest team in the final is the winner of the event.

Preview[]

Fifteen teams qualified for the event which seemed to be another battle between the traditional powerhouses Australia, the United States, and Canada. The four nations had divided the medals at the most world champinoships and at the previous Olympic final with the former coming out on top both times. The Netherlands finished fourth both times and was hoping to regain the Olympic title after 2008. Behind the four teams, plenty of medal contenders including China, Sweden, Great Britain, and France.
