The women's 200 metre breaststroke of Swimming 2020 during the 2020 Summer Olympics was held on 28-30 July 2021 in the Tokyo Aquatics Centre. With 32 athletes competing, the event was won by Tatjana Schoenmaker from South Africa, with Lilly King from United States taking the silver medal and Annie Lazor from United States taking bronze.
Format[]
The competition exists out of three rounds, each with races of up to nine athletes. In the first round, the sixteen fastest athletes qualify for the semifinals. In the semifinals, the two fastest athletes of each race, as well as the four fastest non-qualifiers advance to the final. The fastest competitor in the final is the winner of the event.

Thirty-two athletes qualified for the event with silver medalist at the most recent world championships Tatjana Schoenmaker as the one to beat. The swimmer from South Africa had recorded the fastest time during the qualification period, with Annie Lazor and European champion Molly Renshaw behind her. However, contention for the medals was high with Evgeniia Chikunova, world champion over 100 metres Lilly King, Abbie Wood, and the silver medalist of the European championships Lisa Mamie among the athletes with chances on medals.
