The women's 10 kilometre open water of Swimming 2020 during the 2020 Summer Olympics was held on 4 August 2021 in the Odaiba Marine Park. With 25 athletes competing, the event was won by Ana Marcela Cunha from Brazil, with Sharon van Rouwendaal from Netherlands taking the silver medal and Kareena Lee from Australia taking bronze.

The competition exists out of a single race, in which all competitors conduct a swimming course of 10 kilometres in open water. The competitor with the fastest time is the winner of the event.

Twenty-five athletes qualified for the event with Xin Xin as the reigning world champion, though a field that featured many medal contenders. Sharon van Rouwendaal was the defending Olympic champion but had been less dominant than in previous years, Haley Anderson took the silver medal at the most recent world championships, while Rachele Bruni was the defending Olympic silver medalist. Other medal contenders also included the silver medalist of the 2017 world championships Samantha Arevalo, the bronze medalist of the 2017 world championships Ana Marcela Cunha, Lara Grangeon de Villele, Ashley Twichell, and Kareena Lee.
