Sven Kramer is a speed skater who has competed for the Netherlands. He competed at the 2006, 2010, 2014, 2018, and 2022 Winter Olympic Games. He is most famous for his mistake in the 10000 metres at the 2010 Winter Olympics by failing to switch lanes, disqualifying him from the competition. He is the most successful male Olympic speed skater ever, winning eight medals. He is the first athlete to win the same event three times in a row, winning the 5000 metres at Vancouver 2010, Sochi 2014 and Pyeongchang 2018. He is also the first Dutch Olympian to win eight medals.
His father Yep Kramer is an Olympic speed skater, while his partner Naomi van As competed as a hockey player.
