Stephen Abas is a wrestler who has competed for the United States. He competed at the 2004 Summer Olympic Games.
He qualified for the featherweight class in freestyle wrestling in 2004 by finishing fifth at the world championships and was drawn in pool 1 in the first round. His first bout against the silver medalist of the world championships Ghenadie Tulbea was won with 6 technical points against 1, after which his second group stage bout as a reprise of the Pan American Games final against Rene Montero was closely won with 4 - 3. Advancing to the quarterfinals after finishing first in his group, he was set against the pool 2 winner Li Zhengyu, winning with 6 - 1 to qualify for the semifinals. He also won his bout in this round against Chikara Tanabe with 3 — 0, after which his opponent in the final would be Mavlet Batirov, whom he defeated at the recent world championships. In a one-sided fight, he lost the final with 1 — 9, leaving the American with the silver medal. Four years later, he tried to qualify for the wrestling competition in Beijing, but he lost the final match to Henry Cejudo at the U.S. Olympic trials.
