Stefano Battistelli is a swimmer who has competed for Italy. He competed at the 1988 and 1992 Summer Olympic Games.
Battistelli's major Olympic success transpired at his Olympic debut in 1988. There, he finished third behind the runner-up David Wharton and the world-record holder Tamás Darnyi with his personal best time of 4:18.01 in the 400 metres individual medley. With this feat, he became the first Italian man to win an Olympic medal in swimming. Four years later in Barcelona, he edged out Hajime Itoi by 0.12 of a second to snare his second bronze in the men's 200 metres backstroke.
