The men's snowboard cross of Snowboarding 2018 during the 2018 Winter Olympics was held on 15 February 2018 in the Phoenix Snow Park. With 40 athletes competing, the event was won by Pierre Vaultier from France, with Jarryd Hughes from Australia taking the silver medal and Regino Hernandez from Spain taking bronze.

Format[]

The competition exists out of a single course of 1277 metres. The competition consists of five different phases, with all competitors setting a time in the qualification. All athletes compete in the first round in head-to-head races between five athletes, after which the quarterfinals, semifinals, and final are head-to-head races between six athletes, with the first three advancing to the next round. The athlete with the fastest time in the final is the winner of the event.

Forty athletes qualified for the event with Alex Pullin as the leader in the world rankings and Pierre Vaultier as the defending gold medalist and second seed. The remaining medal contenders came from all over the world, with Omar Visintin, Alessandro Haemmerle, Paul Berg, Hagen Kearney, and Mick Dierdorff standing high in the world rankings. Spain also had two strong irons in the fire with Lucas Eguibar and Regino Hernandez, but the competition remained wide open.
