The men's 50 metre rifle three positions of Shooting 2020 during the 2020 Summer Olympics was held on 2 August 2021 in the Asaka Shooting Range. With 39 athletes competing, the event was won by Zhang Changhong from China, with Sergey Kamenskiy from ROC taking the silver medal and Milenko Sebic from Serbia taking bronze.
Format[]
The competition exists out of two separate rounds. In the qualification, the shooters try to reach a score as high as possible, with the eight athletes with the highest scores qualifying for the second round. In the second round, the athletes compete with the shooter with the lowest score being eliminated. The last competitor standing wins the event.

Thirty-nine athletes qualified for the event with quite a few medal contenders. Tomasz Bartnik was the reigning world champion, though Istvan Peni lead the qualifying world rankings. Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar was another big talent in the field, with silver medalist of the most recent world championships Petar Gorsa as another of the big medal contenders. Henrik Larsen, Sanjeev Rajput, defending silver medalist Sergey Kamenskiy, and Steffen Olsen were some other shooters who had performed well over the previous season, with also Dane Sampson and Yuriy Yurkov among the outsiders.
