Sailing at the 1996 Summer Olympics was held from 22 July to 2 August 1996 at the Wassaw Sound in Savannah, Georgia.

This edition marked the last time to use the name yachting as the sport name before replacing the word sailing at the next Games. On the contrary, the Laser class, an open single-person lightweight dinghy, was officially included in the program for the first time at the Olympics, substituting the Flying Dutchman class.
