Saar or Saarland was a team consisting of athletes from a small region between West Germany and France, and has only participated at Helsinki 1952. The team did not win any medals. Four years later, athletes representing Saar would compete as Unified Team of Germany
The Olympic Committee of Saarland, the Nationales Olympisches Komitee des Saarlandes was founded and recognized in 1950.
