Rostom Abashidze is a wrestler who has competed for the Soviet Union. He competed at the 1964 Summer Olympic Games.
He was the one of the oldest Soviet wrestlers to compete at Tokyo 1964 behind Anatoly Roschin and Vladlen Trostiansky, and entered the Greco-Roman light-heavyweight competition as the three-time world champion and top seed, but he did not compete in the best conditions after barely having been recovered from illness. He first made a draw against Petar Cucic with both wrestlers receiving two bad marks, but won the next bout against Ferenc Kiss with 1 bad mark against 3. With another draw against Per Oskar Svensson, again with two bad marks each, Abashidze had now received five bad marks and was almost out of reach for the medals, with several wrestlers receiving no bad marks, or kept it limited with 3 and 4 across all previous rounds. With nine wrestlers left in the competition, he won his bout against Peter Jutzeler with 1 bad mark against 3, which left the Soviet with 6 bad marks in total, not enough to advance to the final round, leaving him on a shared fifth place despite not having been defeated throughout the tournament. His previous opponents Jutzeler and Kiss shared fifth place with him, while Svensson went on to win the silver medal in the event. Abashidze retired after the Olympic competition.
