The Pyeongchang Olympic Stadium (평창 올림픽 스타디움) was a venue used for the opening and closing ceremonies of Pyeongchang 2018. It was built specifically for the four ceremonies of the Winter Olympic Games and the Paralympic Games, and the stadium was demolished afterwards. It was built in the shape of a pentagon to fully reflect the importance of the number five during Pyeongchang 2018. It was built without a roof and/or a heating system, in order to cut costs. It had a capacity of 35,000 seats.
