Papua New Guinea first participated at the Olympic Games in 1976, and has sent athletes to compete in every Summer Olympic Games edition since then, except when they boycotted Moscow 1980. Currently, Papua New Guinean athletes have never attended any edition of the Winter Olympic Games, and neither of them has ever won a single medal.
The Papua New Guinea Olympic Committee was established in 1973 and duly recognized by the International Olympic Committee a year later.
