Panama first participated at the Olympic Games in 1928 and sent its athletes to compete in most Summer Olympic editions since then. The nation missed Los Angeles 1932, Berlin 1936, Melbourne 1956, and Moscow 1980, as part of the American-led boycott. Panamanian athletes have never attended any edition of the Winter Olympic Games.

Panamanian athletes have won a total of three medals at the Summer Olympic Games, two bronzes from track sprinter Lloyd La Beach in the men's 100 and 200 metres at London 1948 and a gold from long jumper Irving Saladino at Beijing 2008.[1][2]
