Nils van der Poel is a speed skater who has competed for Sweden. He competed at the 2018 and 2022 Winter Olympic Games.
He was the only athlete representing Sweden in the speed skating disciplines in Pyeongchang in 2018. In the 5000 metres event, he was set in the first pair against Adrian Wielgat. Despite a close first half of the race, in which the difference between the two was never more than a second, he extended his lead to over 12 seconds in the latter part. He finished 14th of 22 competitors with a new personal record, just shy of 10 seconds behind the Olympic champion Sven Kramer, with his direct opponent finishing last.
