Nils Egil Aaness is a speed skater who has competed for Norway. He competed at the 1960 and 1964 Winter Olympic Games.
At his first appearance at the Olympic Games in Squaw Valley in 1960, he competed in the shortest two distances, the 500 metres and the 1500 metres. In the 500 metres, he finished 24th with a new personal record of 42.5 seconds, tied with Manfred Schuler, as the fourth-best Norwegian competitor, over 2 seconds behind the winner Eugeni Grishin. At the longer distance, he was one of three athletes to be forced to retire.
Four years later, he competed once again in the 1500 metres, in which he was drawn in the first heat against Rutgerus Liebrechts. In a pretty close race between the two, Aaness lost 2 seconds in just the third lap, and finished 16th in the event of 4 seconds from the gold medal, while his direct opponent finished in the top 10.
