Namibia first participated at the Olympic Games in 1992, and has sent athletes to compete in every Summer Olympic Games edition since then. Namibian athletes have never attended any edition of the Winter Olympic Games.

Namibian athletes have won a total of five silver medals at the Summer Olympic Games, including four from track sprinter Frankie Fredericks in the men's 100 and 200 metres (two each in Barcelona 1992 and Atlanta 1996). The remaining silver medal was eventually awarded to Christine Mboma in the women's 200 metres at Tokyo 2020.

The Namibia National Olympic Committee was formed in 1990 and duly recognized by the International Olympic Committee in the following year.
