Moonika Aava has competed for Estonia

Moonika Aava is a track and field athlete who has competed for Estonia. She competed at the 2004 and 2008 Summer Olympic Games.

She was the only Estonian athlete in the javelin throw competition in 2004, and she finished 17th in qualification group B, resulting in 33rd place overall. After being the only athlete with a failed first attempt, she was ranked 18th in her group after her second throw. She was able to improve to a throw of almost 55 metres, climbing another spot in the standings, but was still over 5 metres away from qualification to the final.

Four years later, her first attempt once again failed, but her second throw resulted in a provisional 8th place in qualification group B. After her third attempt failed as well, she dropped back four places and finished 12th in her group. With a throw of just under 57 metres, she finished 26th in the qualification, 3 metres away from the final, as the best result by an Estonian athlete in women's javelin throw in Olympic history.
