Modern Pentathlon at the 2000 Summer Olympics was held on 30 September and 1 October 2000 at the Sydney International Aquatic Centre for the swimming phase, Sydney Baseball Stadium for the equestrian jumping and cross-country running, and The Dome and Exhibition Complex for fencing and shooting.
For the first time in Olympic history, modern pentathlon in this edition constituted the highest ratio of NOC representation regarding its quota out of all the sports. Moreover, the women's event was officially included in the program.
