Michael Delany is a swimmer who has competed for Australia. He competed at the 1984 Summer Olympic Games.
In the 4x100 metres freestyle relay, the Australian team of Gregory Fasala and Neil Brooks, dubbed by the media as the Mean Machine, handed Delany the third-leg duties to maintain their lead over the Americans. His split of 50.26 was almost a second slower than his American counterpart Matthew Biondi. When Mark Stockwell dove into the pool at the final exchange and could not catch the leader Ambrose Gaines toward the wall, Delany and the rest of the Mean Machine finished the race with a silver. On the individual side, he reached the B-finals of the 100 metres freestyle with the eleventh-fastest time but scratched out from the meet for undisclosed reasons.
