Meelis Aasmäe is a ski racer who has competed for Estonia. He competed at the 1998 and 2002 Winter Olympic Games. He later acted as the head coach of the Lithuanian biathlon team for Pyeongchang 2018.
At his first appearance in 1998, he competed in the 30 kilometres classical and the 50 kilometres free cross-country skiing. In the shorter distance, he was one of three Estonians to compete, and he started as the ninth athlete. He ultimately finished 52nd of 64 ranked athlete, 10 minutes behind the podium. In the longer 50 kilometres almost two weeks later, he was one of thirteen non-finishers, out of a field of 78. He was also the first reserve to compete in the relay.
Four years later, he competed in the 15 kilometres classical technique, the 50 kilometres free technique, and the relay. In the 15 kilometres classical, he finished 40th after a good start. Despite starting towards the tail end of the pack, he moved up quickly, up to 32nd at the first time check. However, he wasn't able to keep the pace, and dropped back another eight places, over 3 minutes behind his countryman and gold medalist Andrus Veerpalu. Five days later, he would compete in the relay as the fourth skier of the Estonian team. Unfortunately, this didn't go as well. When he started his leg, Estonia was in third place, a few seconds in front of Germany. However, with the fifteenth leg time, the Estonian team dropped back to ninth place, losing over 3 minutes to the podium. In his last event, the 50 kilometres classical, he finished just inside the top 50, 20 minutes behind the podium.
