Maxi Gnauck is a gymnast who has competed for East Germany. She competed at the 1980 Summer Olympic Games. She tied the record with Roland Brückner for the most number of medals awarded to the East German gymnast at Moscow 1980, winning a total of four (a gold, a silver, and two bronze).
One of the country's main medal prospects, Gnauck assisted the East German women to secure the podium spot with a bronze in the team portion on the rear of her dominant uneven bars routine. She shared silver medals with the Romanian gymnastics legend and defending champion Nadia Comăneci in the all-around final, trailing the homebound Soviet favorite Elena Davydova by 0.075 of a point. Gnauck performed a triple twist to take another bronze on the floor exercise and then ended her Olympic run with a compulsory perfect score of 10 from the prelims to capture the women's uneven bars title, pipping Comaneci's teammate Emilia Eberle of Romania by a fraction. Among the East German women, Gnauck was the only gymnast to enter all apparatus finals at the Games.
