Matthew Cetlinski is a swimmer who has competed for the United States. He competed at the 1988 Summer Olympic Games.
Cetlinski's major Olympic success transpired in the relay races at Seoul 1988. There, he helped his American teammates Troy Dalbey, Douglas Gjertsen, and Matthew Biondi set a new world record for their second straight title in the men's 4x200 metres freestyle relay. He was also favored to win a gold in the distance-freestyle double (400 and 1500), but his outcome in both races turned into a curse. He started both of his races with an early lead over the field that included ensuing winners Uwe Daßler and Vladimir Salnikov. He struggled to maintain his pace at the closing stages of the races, dropping him off the podium twice to fourth in both 400 and 1500.
