Martín López-Zubero is a swimmer who has competed for Spain. He competed at the 1988, 1992, and 1996 Summer Olympic Games.
After faring poorly in 1988, Lopez-Zubero returned to his second Games four years later in Barcelona as the crowd favorite for the gold and the world record holder in the 200 metres backstroke. He came from third at the final turn to produce a late surge towards the last 25 metres for his country's first ever gold in swimming. He also swam the other half of the backstroke double (100) but barely missed the podium by 0.18 seconds behind David Berkoff.
Lopez-Zubero faced a similar fate in the 100 metres backstroke at his third Olympics in 1996, when he lost the medal to the Cuban duo of Rodolfo Falcón and Neisser Bent by two tenths of a second. He also attempted to rebound for his title defense in the 200 metres backstroke, but he finished sixth in the final.
He is the younger brother of Moscow 1980 bronze medalist David López-Zubero.
