At his first Games in 2004, Gangloff swam through the breaststroke leg in the heats of the 4x100 metres medley relay before Brendan Hansen replaced him on the U.S. men's team that scored a gold-medal triumph with a new world record time (3:30.68) in the final round. On the individual side, he slipped off the podium to fourth in the 100 metres breaststroke by 0.29 of a second.
Four years later in Beijing, he dropped to last among the top eight finalists in his pet race (1:00.24). He also contributed to the U.S. team's title defense in the 4x100 metres medley relay by swimming through the breaststroke leg in the heats with Matthew Grevers, Ian Crocker, and Garrett Weber-Gale.
