Lutz Hoffmann was a gymnast who competed for East Germany. He competed at the 1980 Summer Olympic Games. On 5 December 1997, he committed suicide at his home in Bad Sachsa, aged 38.
He was the older brother of Seoul 1988 gymnastics silver medalist Ulf Hoffmann.
