Leisel Jones is a swimmer who has competed for Australia. She competed at the 2000, 2004, 2008, and 2012 Summer Olympic Games.

Jones started her Olympic career, as a 15-year-old, in Sydney 2000. There, she came from fifth on the final length to claim her first individual medal with a silver in the 100 metres breaststroke, trailing the winner Megan Quann by 0.44 seconds.

Jones has continued to be a member of the Australian swimming team at Athens 2004, Beijing 2008 and London 2012. In 2004, she returned to her second Games as a top medal favorite and world record holder in the breaststroke double (100 and 200). She placed third behind her teammate Brooke Hanson in the 100 metres breaststroke by a hundredth of a second (0.01). Three days later, she added a silver in the 200, lagging 0.23 seconds behind the winner Amanda Beard. The Australian women continued to score a gold medal triumph over the Americans in the 4x100 metres medley relay with a world record time (3:57.32), handing Jones her first gold.

At her third Games in 2008, Jones claimed her first individual gold with an Olympic record time (1:05.17) in the women's 100 metres breaststroke, beating Rebecca Soni by more than a full second. She repeated her runner-up feat from Athens with a silver in the 200, almost two seconds behind the winner Soni. She also added her third career gold by defending the 4x100 metres medley relay title as the breaststroke swimmer of the Australian women's team with a world record time (3:52.69).

Jones became the first Australian swimmer to ever compete in four straight editions at London 2012. Though she failed to medal in her pet race, she and her teammates Emily Seebohm, Alicia Coutts, and Melanie Schlanger managed to finish the race with a silver in the women's 4x100 metres medley relay.

Jones closed out her Olympic career with a medal haul of nine (three gold, five silver, and one bronze). She tied the record with Ian Thorpe for the most medals won by an Australian swimmer until Emma McKeon attained it eight years later in Tokyo with eleven.
