Kosovo first participated as an independent nation at the Olympic Games in 2016, although Kosovan athletes have participated before, as Yugoslavia (until 1988), Serbia and Montenegro (until 2004), and Serbia (until 2012). This nation has participated in every Winter Olympic Games since 2018.
Kosovo has won a total of 3 medals in two editions of the Summer Olympic Games, of which all of them gold medals in women's judo. Majlinda Kelmendi, Distria Krasniqi, and Nora Gjakova have all won gold medals for the nation that has become an independent competeting nation in 2016.
The Olympic Committee of Kosovo was created in 1992 and recognized as an independent committee in 2014.
