Joseph Schooling is a swimmer who has competed for Singapore. He competed at the 2012, 2016, and 2020 Summer Olympic Games. In the 100 metres butterfly at the 2016 Summer Olympics, he beat fellow medal contenders Michael Phelps, Chad le Clos and László Cseh in an Olympic record to claim the gold medal, with his three contenders all finishing second. It was the first Olympic gold medal for Singapore ever in any sport.

He is the grandnephew of Lloyd Valberg.
