Jan-Erik Aarberg was a sailboat racer who competed for Norway. He competed at the 1968 and 1972 Summer Olympic Games. He passed away on 26 June 1994, at the age of 69.
At his first appearance at the Olympic Games, in Mexico City (Acapulco) in 1968, he and his team finished 12th in the Dragon class in the sailing competition. Their first of seven races created a good starting position for the rest of the competition, finishing in fourth place. However, finishing their next five races outside far of the top 10, their chances on a good result were ruined. This was especially harsh after their third and fourth race, where the Norwegian boat lost around 10 places at the third of five buoys. In the last race, the team recovered a bit, ending strong on fifth place.
Four years later, Aarberg competed again, but this time their first race did not show any high hopes, with the boat finishing 16th out of 23 competitors. With once again inconsistent results, ranging as far as placing 5th to 15th, the team could not compete with the medals, finishing in 11th place.
