Ian Crocker is a swimmer who has competed for the United States. He competed at the 2000, 2004, and 2008 Summer Olympic Games.
At his first Olympics in 2000, Crocker helped the U.S. men's team of Lenny Krayzelburg, Ed Moses, and Gary Hall put together a blazing finish to defend their 4x100 metres medley relay title for the fifth time with a new world record time (3:33.73). On the individual side, he produced a fine swim to take a fourth spot with an American record (52.44) in the 100 metres butterfly, barely missing the podium by 0.22 seconds.
Four years later in Athens, Crocker rebounded from an out-of-medal feat from Sydney to claim a silver in his pet race, trailing the winner and his teammate Michael Phelps by 0.04 of a second. He also received a bronze as a member of the 4x100 metres freestyle relay team and continued to deliver the U.S. men's team of Aaron Peirsol, Brendan Hansen, and Jason Lezak a gold in the 4x100 metres medley relay with a world record time of 3:30.68.
At his third Games in 2008, Crocker repeated his fourth-place feat from Sydney in the 100 metres butterfly, barely missing the podium by a hundredth of a second (0.01). He also contributed to the U.S. team's gold-medal triumph in the 4x100 metres medley relay by swimming through the butterfly leg in the heats.
