Hidilyn Diaz is a weightlifter who has competed for Philippines. She competed at the 2008, 2012, 2016, and 2020 Summer Olympic Games. She became the first Filipino athlete after two decades, the first outside boxing since Berlin 1936, and the first woman from the Philippines to ever win an Olympic medal when she claimed a silver in the women's 53 kg category at Rio de Janeiro 2016. Five years later in Tokyo, she emerged as the Philippines' first ever Olympic champion when she won a gold in the women's 55 kg category. She was also selected to carry the Philippine flag during the London 2012 opening ceremony.
