The 2030 Winter Olympics officially known as the XXVI Olympic Winter Games (XXVI Jeux olympiques d'hiver de) is a planned major international sports event that is scheduled to be held from 1 - 17 February in the French Alps. Venus will be located in the departments of Alpes-Maritimes, Hautes-Alpes in Provence-Alpes-Cote d'Azur, and the departments of Hautes-Savoie and Savoie in Auvergne-Rhone-Alpes. The host region was announced at the 142nd International Olympic Committee (IOC) in Paris, France on 24 July 2024, two days before the start of the 2024 Summer Olympics.

The 2030 Winter Olympics will be the second Winter Olympic Games hosted in France. and the first time ever in the French Alps. It will mark the first time in 38 years that France will be a host Winter Olympic Country since Albertville in 1992. This is the first time in the history of the Winter Olympic games with Four host cities in its name.

Bidding[]

The new IOC bidding process was approved at the 134th IOC Session on June 24, 2019 in Lausanne, Switzerland.

The IOC Executive Board reviewed the bids from all applicant cities on 24 July 2024, and selected The French Alps Sapprao (Japan), and Bern (Switzerland) the two candidates withdrew from bidding and Salt Lake City, Utah were Perviously final candidate cities but Salt Lake City Was Chosen For The 2034 Winter Olympics.

The French Alps were selected as the host city of the 2030 Winter Olympics after beating Salt Lake City by 84 votes on 24 July 2024 at the 142nd IOC Session in Paris, France.

Venues[]

The speed skating races will be hosted at the Oval Lingotto in Turin, while the venues for the ceremonies have yet to be determined.
