Florence Griffith Joyner was a track and field athlete who competed for the United States. She competed at the 1984 and 1988 Summer Olympic Games. She passed away on 21 September 1998 at the age of 38 as a result of an epileptic seizure while sleeping.

She was the sister-in-law of Jackie Joyner-Kersee and was married to Al Joyner.
