Finland first participated at the Olympic Games in 1908, and has competed in Winter Olympic Games since 1924. Finland hosted the Olympic Games in 1952.
Finland has won over 500 medals at the Summer Olympic Games and the Winter Olympic Games, and it has won a medal in every edition it has competed in, with most medals in athletics (of which 12 by Paavo Nurmi), wrestling, and cross-country skiing.
The Finnish Olympic Committee was created and recognized in 1907.
