The men's singles of Figure Skating 2006 during the 2006 Winter Olympics was held on 14-16 February 2006 in the Palavela. With 30 athletes competing, the event was won by Evgeni Plushenko from Russia, with Stephane Lambiel from Switzerland taking the silver medal and Jeffrey Buttle from Canada taking bronze.
Format[]
The competition exists out of two separate rounds. The first round allows the competitors to perform a routine of a maximum 2:50 minutes, after which the athletes with the twenty-four best scores perform another routine of around 4:30 minutes. The competitor with the best score after two rounds is the winner.

Thirty athletes qualified for the event with Stephane Lambiel as reigning world champion, after he beat Jeffrey Buttle and Evan Lysacek for the gold medal. The defending silver medalist Evgeni Plushenko had been one of the leading athletes for years, despite not having participated at the most recent world championships. Lambiel and Buttle also placed first and second at the most recent Grand Prix finals only a few months prior, where they finished in front of the Japanese Daisuke Takahashi. Other medal contenders and outsiders included Johnny Weir, Emanuel Sandhu, Li Chengjiang, and Brian Joubert.
