Evgueni Sadovyi is a swimmer who has competed for the Unified Team. He competed at the 1992 Summer Olympic Games.
Sadovyi was widely regarded as the world's top distance-freestyle swimmer in the early 1990s. In the 200 metres freestyle, he came from behind at the final turn to surpass Anders Holmertz and lower the Olympic record time for the gold. The feat made him the first swimmer from the former Soviet Union to top the podium since Moscow 1980. He also missed the world record set by Giorgio Lamberti in 1991 by a hundredth of a second. Earlier in the heats, he posted the fastest time to cut off Duncan Armstrong's Olympic record from Seoul 1988 by more than half a second.
The following day, Sadovyi produced a striking anchor at the last exchange to strengthen the lead towards the finish and deliver the Unified team a gold-medal triumph with a new world record in the 4x200 metres freestyle relay. Three days after his victory in the 200 metres freestyle, Sadovyi touched out Kieren Perkins at the final lap to erase his rival's world record by 1.47 seconds and snatch his third gold of the Games in the 400.
After missing the selection to the Russian team for Atlanta 1996, Sadovyi retired from competitive swimming.
