Emanuele Abate has competed for Italy

Emanuele Abate is a track and field athlete who has competed for Italy. He competed at the 2012 Summer Olympic Games.

He participated in the fifth heat of the men's 110 metres hurdles in London in 2012, and finished fourth behind world championships finalist Aries Merritt, 2009 world champion Ryan Brathwaite, and one of the big talents in the field Xie Wenjun. A fourth-place finish would not let him advance to the semifinals directly, but with the twelfth-fastest total time in the heats of 13.46, he still qualified as the fastest non-qualifier. In the semifinal, he once again finished fourth with a time of 13.35, with only the first two directly qualifying for the final. His time was the tenth-fastest time of the semifinals, only narrowly missing out on the final by five-hundredth of a second behind Lawrence Clarke. The sprinter from Great Britain was the only European athlete to qualify for the final, with Abate being the second-best European athlete in the event.
