Egypt first participated at the Olympic Games in 1912, and it has only missed two editions since then. This nation has competed in Winter Olympic Games in Sarajevo 1984.

Egypt has won a total of 38 medals at the Summer Olympic Games, winning the most medals in Weightlifting and Wrestling, the only sports the country has won a gold medal in.

The Egyptian Olympic Committee was created (and recognized) in 1910.
